88th Basic Law Enforcement Academy Update

Joe Sumner
Basic Training Coordinator

The 88th BLE class is comprised of twenty recruits from twelve different agencies. They just completed  their 19th week of training, which consisted of a week-long block of instruction in DUI/SFST, which included a wet-lab practical training exercise. The 88th BLE class has achieved a high success rate in passing their core hands-on training, to include Defensive Tactics, Drivers Training, and Firearms. Soon they will be taking on the rigors of ALLERT, a three day course designed to equip the recruits in handling active shooters incidents.

Upcoming classes in February and March include Expandable Baton, Surveillance Techniques, Search Warrants, and Domestic Violence and Family Law.Over the course of the academy training, the 88th BLE class has strengthened their individual and unit resolve. They have come together as a cohesive unit and I am encouraged and pleased with their progress, and expect them to steadily develop and mature as their training continues. They are scheduled to graduate on March 31, 2017.‚Äč
